Hi all,
I will attend the first time this year with my wife, and I'd like to know how big the Camping area is.
How are my chances to get a good Camping spot if I will arrive on Friday / Saturday ?
How Long do you have to walk from the Camping site to the River Beach ?

Thank you guys.

Usually you will be able to get a good spot when you arrive on friday or saturday. Of course, the earlier you get there the better your chances.
It depends where you want to camp. When you decide to stay at the "normal" camp ground, it takes about 5 minutes to get to the river. If you camp in the woods, it can be even closer.

It's down to personal preference. I prefer camping in the open area as we like to be closer to the shops but unless you have a caravan or are very lucky to get some shade, I've found it is often almost impossible to sleep past 7am as it gets incredibly hot in a tent. The woods tend to be much cooler because there is shade from the trees.

I'm English so to me the weather is hot, to people from warmer parts it is probably not too bad. It's about 27c as an average but that is a very rough average, it can get much hotter and much colder. The festival is in the mountains so there is usually rain, and it can be very heavy. Last year there was a storm at about 2pm most days, 2015 was very hot (roughly 35c) and dry for almost the whole festival...who knows what 2017 will bring

Woods... woods all the way for me. Because of a shade. But it's way harder to get good spot there unless you arrive really soon. Or you're persistent in searching.

Another bonus of camping in the woods is also short distance to stages (like 2 - 3 minutes of walking) and short distance to river (5 minutes or less of a walking).
And now when they introduced new “silent hours” from 03.00 - 09.00 rule, as it was always a bit more noisy over night in the woods while body needs regeneration, there can be even better.

If they keep up with another new rule, it can be a bit easier to get good spot here also if you're not among first: Please also note, that those of you, who will arrive to the festival early and buy yourself an Early arrival ticket, can not reserve camping grounds for your friends, who are planning to arrive after Early arrival time! We will remove all tapes or any signs of reserved camping space whatsoever.

This was really annoying in previous years. So many good empty spots in the woods reserved for days...

Like jonnny above said, 2016 metaldays was mixture of rain and sun. Relatively pleasant. 2015 was almost unbearable hot. Seriously, if you find a good spot in the woods don't think twice.

I really don't think they will enforce this new rule.

Which one? Silent hours or no reserved camping space? :)
I honestly hope for no reserved camping space. There's way too much tapes all over camping area for a days. This issue can be most likely easily solved by 3 slow daily walks of a one security guy with knife or scissors through camping area. So nothing impossible ...
